INTERESTED IN REVIEWING - HERE ARE OUR GUIDELINES FOR POTENTIAL REVIEWS
It may be of help before you wish to commit yourself to know a little about how we set about reviewing productions.
We require you to send us a 'sample' review you have written of a production you have recently attended. If we then accept you as a THEATREWORLD reviewer - we must be assured that you will be ‘dedicated, reliable, and above all committed’ to review your chosen venue on a regular basis.
THEATREWORLD INTERNET MAGAZINE is a totally free service - no commercial involvement is allowed and no profit is made and ALL its’ reviewers / correspondents are UNPAID
We have been ‘in the business’ since 1994 – indeed we were ‘probably’ one of the first Theatre-based Internet site and now number World-wide venues within our portfolio. Our reviews have been published outside West End Theatres and used as publicity material for West End productions and to obtain grants for many fringe and Regional Theatres.
On acceptance as a reviewer / correspondent, you will be provided with an official “Theatreworld” letter of accreditation. It would then be up to you to contact the Press Officer or Marketing Manager at the theatre(s) you wish to cover - you should also give your contact details to the press representative (officer) when booking tickets. Once you are on their files you should automatically be invited to attend press nights or advised of forthcoming productions for which you may request a review ticket(s) - PLEASE NOTE productions MUST have at least a further 3 day run from our receiving your review.
You need to tell the Press or Marketing office to also send us press releases of their forthcoming productions - or alternatively (and preferred) a whole “season” listing e.g. Spring / Summer, Autumn / Winter.
PLEASE NOTE:
THEATREWORLD INTERNET MAGAZINE does not generally publish GRAND OPERA / BALLET/ STAND-UP COMEDY / CONCERT PERFORMANCES, ONE NIGHTERS or MIME.
Following your attendance of a production, you will be expected to complete your review for publication within (at least) 48 hours. You will email your review to the Press Officer and cc us in order that we can advise them and you when your review as been published. We must be copied on all correspondence relating to Theatreworld Internet Magazine.
We are not interested in negative criticism - if you can’t find ANYTHING good to say about a production then you are simply acting like a ‘critic’ and that’s a word not used in THEATREWORLD’s vocabulary. It would be a good idea for you to look through some of the current examples of the different reviewers work - they all have their own ‘style’, but one common thing – they try to be as positive as is possible.
We are always here for help and/or advice with any problems.
If you are still interested, please get back to us with your address and phone number (sometimes useful if a show is cancelled and they alert us rather than you)! – then we will can send your Accreditation”.
Let us know which Theatre(s) you wish to cover on a regular basis. Below is a listing of the Theatres / Venues already covered so PLEASE do not request any of these.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
